Introduction

Welcome to “Overcome Procrastination and Boost Productivity” – the first in the V2V Series – From Victim to Victory. The V2V Method is my own strategic formula for overcoming specific mental, and emotional, issues that are interfering with your life and living to your Highest potential.

As I started writing this book and putting together the course that accompanies it, I felt a hint of irony in the fact that I should be the person writing about procrastination. On the other hand, my life circumstances and my educational background in psychology, make me more than qualified to write about the subject and hopefully help you, the reader.

My Personal Struggle with Procrastination

Why did I find it ironic? – Well, I have been the queen of procrastination. Fifteen years ago, I decided to head onto a new life path. That path was in the coaching business. I was a regular host and co-host on various Mind-Body podcasts.

I had a very successful blog with 250,000 readers. Among my readers, I was reputed as an authority in my field of Transpersonal Psychology. I ranked at the top of Google and I had what it took to succeed. But, what did I do?

When things started getting serious, I started putting things off and putting things off, and putting things off. I dropped off the podcasts by avoiding participating. I stopped writing public articles. I lost my .com website and withdrew, slowly but surely, from the whole world of the Internet and the exposure it was giving me.

In the Interim, I also quit a couple of wonderful jobs on the amazing island of Madeira, in Portugal, uprooted and started life all over again, in Spain. I was doing everything and anything to earn a living but not following my heart or my passions. As for the idea of going back to coaching, it was an idea that kept cropping up and as it did, I kept pushing it back down.

The painful truth is I procrastinated until now. If you are a procrastinator like me, think about this for a moment. Let it really sink in. Fifteen years of my life have gone and I can never get them back.

Now, I’m trying to make up for lost time and I am cramming fifteen years of private notes, recordings and articles into one year. That is the time I have given myself to get back to where I was and surpass it.  Am I too ambitious? Or am I 100% focused and determined?

As you get to know me, I’ll let you be the judge of that.

The Purpose of This Book and Course – Overcome Procrastination and Boost Productivity

My intention, with this book and the V2V Method, is to enlighten you a little. By the end of it, you should be able to clearly identify what fears you have, where they came from, how to confront them to release them, and how to replace limiting beliefs with limitless ones that will empower you to move forward and healthily manage procrastination.

Can we kick the procrastination habit completely? Yes!

As we saw earlier, procrastination is the habitual postponement of tasks. Therefore, as with any habit, we can kick it to the curb if we want to. It takes strength, determination and focus as well as a great deal of mindfulness.

I am not saying you will not have the odd time that you postpone something because you are genuinely tired, but you will not consistently do it.
